PROCESS TO SECURE YOUR AAT-ETIS CERTIFICATION:

1. First, become a Member of the American Academy of Thermology. (A certificate of completion is not required to be a member.)

  • The 1st year's membership fee is $250.00 and includes a one time $100.00 application fee. Annual renewal is $150.00.

  • You MUST become familiar with the organizational requirements.

  • Once the online course has been successfully completed the candidate must then obtain a copy of their certificate of completion.

  • The certificate of completion will be available to the candidate to download when they have completed the course and passed the test. This is an automatic process through the iSpring eLearning platform.

  • IMPORTANT: Taking the online course does not make you a Certified Equine Thermographer.

2. Next, review all AAT Member Certification Requirements and AAT Member Re-certification Requirements at this page.

3. The applicant should then submit the AAT Certification Application, and the $150.00 application fee to the AAT.

4. A copy of the Vetel Certificate of Completion should be attached to the application.

5. Dr. Turner will only act as your sponsor under the following conditions:

  • He requires your resume or curriculum vitae so he knows your background, who you are and your relationship to the horse industry.

  • You must submit 3 case studies to Dr. Turner. These show that you know and understand the principles of veterinary thermology, you know how to use the camera and produce images, you know how to produce a report that would be acceptable by a veterinarian for interpretation. This report should be able to be pieced together as a thermal image of the entire horse.

  • It is highly recommended that at least 20-30 studies be generated prior to submitting any case reports.

6. Posted on this page see:

  • The sample cases

  • Veterinary Guidelines for Infrared Thermography

7. Once Dr. Turner approves the 3 case studies and has reviewed your curriculum vitae he will contact AAT with his decision.

  • ATT will take Dr. Turner's approval under submission.

  • Once the AAT approves your application, it will issue you an AAT Member Certification Certificate. Candidates should request that the AAT Certificate specify "Certified Technician (or Physician) - ETIS" (Equine Thermal Imaging Specialist).

  • The certified member may then apply the post-nominal initials, AAT-ETIS, following their name for as long as all re-certification requirements have been met.
